CDR file extension is used for vector graphics file format which was developed by the Corel Corporation. It is mainly used for vector graphic images and drawings created by Corel Draw, a prevalent Graphics Design program. The CDR format is the default format for Corel Draw Applications. However it is recognized by the majority of image editing programs. Files affixed with the CDR extension are usually classified as vector graphics files. Vector graphics files saved in the CDR format are also called CorelDRAW image files. Mac-based systems can create, open and view the content of a CDR file with the CorelDraw software and other Corel applications supported by Mac. A CDR file, when opened in CorelDRAW, may be exported in other formats. CDR files can also be opened by Corel Paint Shop Pro. Important: Adobe Illustrator 9.0 or later might be able to open CDR files created with CorelDRAW 10 or earlier.
